| Building on the burgeoning career
opportunities for forensic nurses and the recent
surge of interest among nurses in the forensic sciences,
Duquesne University’s School
of Nursing partnered with the Wecht Institute
in the summer of 2002 to begin offering a Master
of Science in Nursing with a forensic nursing track.

| This 36-credit, online program,
which incorporates the 12 credits contained in the
Wecht Institute’s Certificate
program, is designed to prepare students to
practice in various areas of forensic nursing, whether
as sexual assault nurses, nurse coroners, nurse
investigators, forensic psychiatric nurses, forensic
correctional nurses, clinical nurse specialists,
legal nurse consultants or expert witnesses. |
| In addition, the Nursing School
and the Wecht Institute collaboratively offer an
18-credit, Post-Master’s Certificate in Forensic
Nursing. |
