Since its inception in the fall of 2000, the Wecht Institute has collaborated with various schools throughout the University and the region to develop a variety of degree and non-degree programs in the area of forensic science and law education.
The Wecht Institute's five-year, entry-level Master's in Forensic Science and Law program features a curriculum designed to accommodate graduating high-school seniors interested in pursuing careers as forensic scientists.
The Certificate in Forensic Science and Law program, which convenes on Saturday mornings over a ten-month period, is designed for professionals from various fields who serve as, or wish to serve as, adjuncts to the legal process.
Nurses with an interest in the legal applications of their profession may pursue either the forensic nursing track of the two-year Master of Science in Nursing or the Post-Master's Certificate in Forensic Nursing, depending upon their levels of education.
And in its first off-campus academic partnership, the Wecht Institute is now collaborating with Pittsburgh's Carlow College to offer Forensic Medical and Legal Investigations: The Post-Mortem Examination, a program that combines a BS degree in biology with certification as an autopsy specialist.
In addition to these programs, the Institute's staff is working with academics from throughout the University and the region toward the development and implementation of new forensic science graduate degree programs in chemistry, biology, psychology and the applied sciences.
Please check back soon for updated information on these and other programs.
